IBEX26 Safety & Group Ride Rules

No Overtakes, Formation Discipline, Steward Support

No overtaking in the group

  • Do not overtake the rider in front of you at any time while in formation. Only the lead/safety team may change position as needed.
  • If the pace feels too slow/fast, tell the road safety officer at the next stop—do not pass to “move up.”
  • These rules apply on all three IBEX26 curated routes — Route A, Route B, and Route C — each led by IMRG Alicante stewards
  • Our safety stewards are provided by IMRG Alicante, one of IBEX26’s founding on-road partners.

Formation and spacing

  • Staggered formation on open, well‑surfaced roads for visibility and reaction time.
  • Single‑file in twisty sections, narrow lanes, towns, poor visibility, roadworks, gravel, or wet/leafy surfaces.
  • Maintain smooth gaps. As a guide: keep at least 2 seconds to the bike directly ahead in your wheel track and at least 1 second to the offset rider.
  • Do not ride side‑by‑side. Leave an escape route.

Signals and pacing

  • Mirror and signal discipline: indicate lane changes/turns early; pass hand signals back.
  • Ride your own ride within limits and conditions; the lead will regroup after complex sections.

Fuel and logistics

  • Refuel together with the group when indicated by the road safety officer. Do not peel off alone for fuel.
  • Arrive fueled for departure; if your range is limited, inform the road safety officer at briefing.
  • Have payment ready, fill promptly, and clear the pump before heading to café/rest rooms.

Incidents and urgent stops

  • Another rider has a technical issue or stops
    • Do not stop. Stay in formation. The rear safety steward will pull out to assist; the road safety officer will set a safe regroup point ahead.
  • You need to stop urgently or have a technical problem
    • Signal, raise a hand, and pull off safely to the shoulder or a lay‑by. Use hazards and stay with your motorcycle.
    • The rear safety steward will stop to assist. Do not rejoin mid‑pack without instruction.
  • Crashes or medical emergencies
    • The safety team coordinates the scene and calls emergency services. Keep the lane clear unless directed otherwise.
Plan OPA

Road conduct

  • Obey local laws, posted limits, and conditions; ride predictively.
  • Zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs before or during rides.
  • Respect communities: low revs through towns; no excessive noise or littering.
  • Stay on paved/public roads and observe protected areas.

Liability

  • You ride at your own risk. IBEX26 is not responsible for personal injury, property damage, or third‑party claims except where required by law.
